Amidst the mass relationship casualties this month, Julia Stiles is keeping her distance when it comes to "Dexter" co-stars Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter

"I have absolutely nothing to do with the split between Michael and Jennifer," the actress says in a statement. "We are good friends and enjoyed working together. This is a personal matter between them, and we should respect their privacy."

Carpenter plays Miami homicide detective Debra Morgan, and Hall plays her adopted brother, Miami blood spatter expert and moonlighting serial killer/vigilante Dexter.

The on-screen siblings announced their separation on Tuesday (Dec. 14) and made the divorce filing official on Thursday. Carpenter cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split and is seeking spousal support from Hall. She claims the two have not been together since August.

Stiles adds, "Although I too prefer to keep my private life, private -- I felt compelled to dispel the rumors I was somehow the cause for this matter."

Both Stiles and Hall received Golden Globe nominations Tuesday (Dec. 14) for the show's fifth season.
