Justin Bieber won't be charged for smacking a paparazzo

The case stemmed from an incident in May, when Bieber confronted a paparazzo snapping pictures of him and Selena Gomez. The photographer called 911, claiming Bieber hit him hard enough to cause pain in his upper torso.

TMZ reports, however, that the L.A. County district attorney's office has decided not to pursue a criminal battery case against the pop star. Prosecutors cited a lack of evidence and conflicting witness statements in making the call.

The charge is the second involving Bieber and paparazzi to be dismissed in the seven days. Last week a judge threw out charges against photographer Paul Raef stemming from a high-speed chase of Bieber in July, saying a California law that aims to curb reckless driving by paparazzi is too broad. (Raef still faces other reckless driving charges.)
