Kate Middleton goes camping with the Cub Scouts

kate-middleton-camping-cub-scouts.jpg Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has been roughing it lately, as she attends a training course for Scout volunteers in England. The Scouts' official website details Kate's first training event since she became a volunteer for U.K. Scouting in 2012.

The Duchess joined 24 other adult volunteers at Great Tower Scout Activity Centre at Lake Windermere, located about 400 miles NNW of London, where they lit different types of fires, preparing food over the flames (pictured, above).

Bear Grylls, U.K. Chief Scout (and yes, of "Man vs. Wild"), says, "The Duchess has an incredibly busy life, yet since she joined the Scouts, she has so generously managed to volunteer some incredible time to help out and get involved with her local Group. Over the last few years it has been our mission to make it easier for adults to give as much or as little as they are able; it is how we change our society: many people doing a little bit."

Volunteer Kim Spoors adds, "It's great that the Duhess can find time in her busy schedule to help Scouting develop the lives of young people in her local community. I bet she enjoys it as much as I do."

Perhaps Kate's bundle of joy will one day be a Cub Scout.
