Katee Sackhoff on 'Riddick': Dahl is 'probably the strongest character I've ever played'

katee-sackhoff-riddick.jpg Katee Sackhoff has never been one to shy away from strong female characters, from donning Starbuck's fatigues on "Battlestar Galactica" to Vic Moretti's sheriff's deputy uniform on A&E's "Longmire." But she tells Zap2it that her character of Dahl in "Riddick" is definitely the toughest woman she's ever portrayed.

"She's just crazy. She's really, really, really ballsy," laughs Sackhoff. "She's very tough. She's not pretending to be tough, she's f***ing tough. She's not hanging out with the boys, she is one of the boys. 100 percent. She's probably the strongest character I've ever played."

"'Riddick' is exciting, it's so cool. It was so much fun to shoot, so it should be fun to watch," she adds.

We have to wonder if Sackhoff deliberately seeks out these strong characters and she says that is absolutely by design.

"Especially in television, you have to enjoy what you're doing on a daily basis. You have to find things that come easily to you becuase you're doing it on a daily basis," says Sackhoff. "You're playing this character all the time, so you try to find somebody that's a bit like yourself. Im' not saying that I'm a bad-a** or anything, but playing these tomboy characters with a lot going on and these multi-layered women comes very, not easily, but it's more easy than going and doing a comedy."

"Riddick" opens nationwide Friday, Sept. 6. Will you be checking it out?
