Katy Perry's parents pass out her perfume while saying fans worship the wrong person

Katy Perry.jpgSuperstar Katy Perry packs concert halls, but her parents would rather see people packed into a church. Keith and Mary Hudson, who are evangelical ministers, hosted two nights of "prophetic services" at a church outside Cleveland. The two billed themselves as "Katy Perry's parents" in the promotional materials and said that their daughter's popularity was all about getting butts in the seats.

According to People, Mary Hudson told the crowd, "I'm sure that Katy's trending on the Internet was to get you here to church tonight." They said that the only reason they attended Katy's concert was to support their daughter. "It was almost like church," Keith said. He explained that fans "want to worship and they want to love, they are just worshiping and loving the wrong person."

Be that as it may, the couple is fine with using Katy's fame to spread their message. "What has taken place in my daughter's life has opened many opportunities to go in and be with guarded and gated people. They like us because we're cool. We are not threatening," Rick explained. And hey, they're spreading Katy's brand as well. After the service, they passed out samples of her new perfume, PURR. Not a word on her impending divorce from hubby Russell Brand.
