Though she spent over $235,000 on it, "American Idol" alum Kelly Clarkson can't bring a ring she won at auction back to the United States, from where it resides in the U.K. At one point, the ring was owned by novelist Jane Austen and a committee reviewing Clarkson's application for export said it should stay in the U.K., the Daily Mirror reports.

So began the campaign to raise the money to buy it from Kelly. The Jane Austen's House Museum launched a fundraising campaign, which gathered nearly $240,000, was able to secure the ring.

It's expected to go on display at the museum in 2014.Clarkson is actually happy that the ring will go on display, calling it "a beautiful national treasure and I am happy to know that so many Jane Austen fans will get to see it at Jane Austen's House Museum."

Kelly wanted to wear the piece as an engagement ring, according to USA Today. She ended up finding a different one which she lost before the 2013 CMA Music Festival. Luckily, that one was later found.
