Ken Marino talks 'Veronica Mars' movie, shooting with Kristen Bell
The "Veronica Mars" movie is going to be full of plenty of familiar -- albeit older -- faces from the fan-favorite series. One of the cast members who will be returning is Ken Marino, who will be reprising his role as private investigator Vinnie Van Lowe.
Since his time with "Veronica Mars" came to an end, Marino went on to star in many other television series, and memorably plays Glenn on the Adult Swim series "Children's Hospital." While at an event promoting the season finale of "Children's Hospital" at the Vista Theatre in Los Angeles, Zap2it spoke with Marino about returning to the world of "Veronica Mars."
"I was lucky enough to be asked to be in the movie, so yeah, I'm in it," he says simply.
When the show ended, it was implied that Vinnie beat Veronica's father Keith in the race to become town sheriff. Considering Jerry O'Connell will play the new sheriff in the upcoming movie, Vinnie clearly didn't keep his job for the decade that's passed. Still, Marino says his character hasn't changed much since fans last saw him.
"I don't know if I can say much," Marino hedges about the plot of the movie. "I will say that Vinnie is Vinnie. Vinnie is Vinnie, and he always has a fun, interesting time with Veronica." Fans saw some of the scenes Marino and Kristen Bell shot together at San Diego Comic-Con.
The "Veronica Mars" movie marks the return of creator Rob Thomas and stars Bell, Jason Dohring and Enrico Colantoni. It's slated for an early 2014 release date.
