Kentucky Derby 2011: Uncle Mo is out, where to place your bets now

The favored horse for the 2011 Kentucky Derby is out of commission.

Trainer Todd Pletcher and owner Mike Repole announced just a day shy of the running at Churchill Downs that odds-makers' favorite Uncle Mo will not be making the race. The horse was diagnosed with a gastrointestinal infection in April, and though antibiotics seemed to have him on the road to recovery, the latest assessment showed that he was not well enough to make the Derby.

"He definitely had a GI tract infection," says Pletcher . "We're trying to find out whether that was the secondary issue or the primary issue or a function of something else. The only thing I can tell you right now is I don't know what it is."

Poor Mo. The trainer adds that he's lost weight, has a noticeably curbed appetite and even his coat is looking off.

So who's the favorite now? With only 19 horses left, revisions to the current line are expected later May 6. But for now, the top choice seems to be... Dialed In.

He's currently at 4-1, though you'll likely see a little tweaking before Derby Day.
