Zap2it: You're playing Becca Parker, the Mexican-born sister-in-law of Texas Ranger Molly Parker ( Tricia Helfer), in ABC's Tuesday drama "Killer Women," but aren't you from Spain?

Marta Milans: From Madrid ... even though, we, as Spaniards, have a hard time making people understand in this country that we're from a different continent. I'm from the mother country, OK? All of this (Milans gestures toward the backdrop for today's filming, a suburb of Albuquerque, N.M.) used to be ours. Not anymore.

Zap2it: What's it like, learning about your character's background?

Marta Milans: For me, it's fascinating, because it is really a different culture. It's a much more hot-blooded, passionate approach to life, in my opinion.

Zap2it: I hear you have to do some Latin American dancing later this week. Are you prepared?

Marta Milans: I actually had to go to a dance teacher and be like, "I gotta learn cumbia." But she said, "You're Spanish," and I said, "Let me tell you, I can dance Sevillanas and rumba and flamenco, kind of, not even that well ... but the whole hip, cha-cha-cha ... ," you should have seen me. A few weeks ago, I was in tears with the teacher: "I suck. I suck so bad." She was like, "It's not that bad, sweetie. We're getting there."

Zap2it: How are you enjoying life in the United States?

Marta Milans: I'm a fan of America. My parents call me "the Yankee"; that's how much I'm in love with this country, with everything that it stands for, how it was built. I want, if I ever have a family, to have kids here, for sure.
