Kim Kardashian's engagement ring from Kris Humphries sells at auction - How much did it earn?

One of the biggest ways to get over a failed marriage is to move on with a new significant other. Kim Kardashian's baby with Kanye West certainly pushed Kris Humphries out of her mind, but there was still that pesky issue of her engagement ring holding her back.

Not anymore. The "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star's engagement ring from ex-husband Humphries has sold at a Christie's auction in NYC on Tuesday (Oct. 15) for $620,000, Us Weekly reports.

Bidding opened on the ring at $200,000, with an online buyer winning the ring, including its 16.21-carat center diamond and two 1.8-carat side diamonds. The anonymous buyer will pay a total of $749,000 for the ring, which is significantly lower than the ring's initial reported worth of $2 million.

At least something left over from the short-lived marriage is doing some good: the auction catalog noted that that a portion of the proceeds from the item's sale would benefit a charity, which will be named at a later date.

"Kim has been waiting for the day he would auction it," a source says. "Everyone always asked what Kim did with the ring -- she silently gave it back over a year ago. And Kris waited until the divorce was final to sell it."

Humphries and Kardashian were married for 72 days before Kardashian filed for divorce on October 31, 2011. The couple finalized their divorce in May of this year, and Kardashian is already mom to daughter North West with boyfriend Kanye.
