Lady Gaga named 2011 AP Entertainer of the Year

lady-gaga-egg-gi.jpgLady Gaga had a busy year, with the release of "Born this Way," inhabiting her alter-ego, Jo Calderone, and emerging from eggs at awards shows. Now, she's got another accomplishment to add to her list: AP Entertainer of the Year.

According to the AP, the singer was voted the celebrity who held the most influence on pop culture and entertainment in 2011 -- just three votes ahead of late Apple founder Steve Jobs. Also receiving "numerous votes" were Taylor Swift, Charlie Sheen, Adele and the cast of "Harry Potter."

Gaga's album came out in May, sold more than 1 million copies in its first week and recently received three Grammy nominations -- so we'd say the pop star is deserving of such a high honor. Gaga joins the ranks of previous AP Entertainers of the Year, which include Betty White, Swifty, Tina Fey and Stephen Colbert.

What do you think of the AP's selection? Who would you have chosen as Entertainer of the Year?
