Lamar Odom reportedly contacted by Lakers after Dwight Howard left for Houston

lamar-odom-los-angeles-lakers-clippers.jpgIn what turned into quite the dramatic decision Friday night (July 5), Dwight Howard left the Los Angeles Lakers for the Houston Rockets -- and then Kobe Bryant unfollowed him on Twitter and Phil Jackson referred to him as an "Astro." Such shenanigans.

Now it sounds as though the Lakers are testing the waters with forward Lamar Odom. ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reports that the "Lakers have reached out to Lamar Odom, but it's been hard to determine how high interest level is on either side thus far."

She adds that, to her knowledge, they haven't met yet, but "there was some level of interest in him, and a couple phone calls made."

Odom previously played for the Lakers from 2004-2011, then was traded to Dallas and then to the Los Angeles Clippers, where he played in the 2012-13 season.

ESPN's Dave McMenamin says that the Clippers' decision will likely impact whatever goes on with the Lakers.

"According to source familiar with the Antawn Jamison/Clippers talks, Lamar Odom is a major factor. Clips unlikely to get both," writes McMenamin.

Shelburne also says Jamison, who played for the Lakers in the '12-'13 season, is likely to make his decision regarding the Clippers in the next day or so.

So far, Khloe Kardashian is mum on the subject, but we'd have to think she's excited about her husband staying in the Los Angeles area, regardless of which team he is playing for.
