Lark Voorhies from 'Saved by the Bell' has bipolar disorder, says her mom

Was it unfortunate styling and makeup? Plastic surgery? Or did drugs play a role?

Voorhies, who played Lisa Turtle on "Saved by the Bell" as a teen, denies any drug use, but after People magazine had a recent series of strange interviews with the now-38-year-old, her mother told the mag that Voorhies has bipolar disorder.

"There are things that have traumatized her," her mother, Tricia, who lives with Voorhies in Pasadena, Calif., says. "I care deeply about my daughter and I want her to resume her life."

Voorhies, however, says she's not sick and calls her mother "over-loving." But People reports that during interviews, Voorhies would "frequently stop mid-sentence and stare off, often mumbling to herself or to others who weren't there."

"I have a strong spiritual sense," Voorhies says of her behavior. "You caught me in moments of pray [sic]."
