'Law & Order: SVU': Lots of clues in Season 13 sneak peek

Chris Meloni isn't mentioned by name in this preview of "Law & Order: SVU's" new season, but he still looms large.

Meloni's Elliot Stabler has apparently gone AWOL at the start of the season, and his absence is weighing on his long-time partner, Olivia Benson ( Mariska Hargitay). Into this environment step new SVU detectives Nick Amaro ( Danny Pino) and Amanda Rollins ( Kelli Giddish), and from the looks of things Amaro in particular has a bit of a rough go at first.

You'll also see ADAs Alexandra Cabot ( Stephanie March) and Casey Novak ( Diane Neal) back in action, as well as former original recipe "Law & Order" star Linus Roache reprising his role as Michael Cutter, who's now a bureau chief in the district attorney's office.

"Change is good," Hargitay says at one point in the video. We'll see whether that holds true when "SVU" premieres at 10 p.m. ET Wednesday, Sept. 21.

What do you think of the sneak peek? Do you think the newcomers will fit in?
