LCD Soundsystem: Watch their farewell show at Madison Square Garden

lcd-soundsytem.jpgAfter a week of farewell gigs in New York, LCD Soundsystem took its final bow at Madison Square Garden on April 2 after a show that stretched nearly four hours.

The band, which formed 10 years ago in New York City, announced on its website earlier in 2011 that it would retire after the farewell show.

The three-set show, complete with two encores, mostly stuck to the band's catalog, though there was room for a few covers -- and a guest collaboration with Arcade Fire.

Dispatches from the concert make it sound as though it lived up to fan expectations, with  comedian Aziz Ansari offered a perfunctory tweet to sum up the night: "Jumped the rails. Crowd surfed during Yeah. @lcdsoundsystem killed it. RIP my favorite band. #OnlyTrueTweetofthNight #SorryMSGSecurity"
