Lea Michele lands herself a book deal

It was announced on Thursday (May 23) that Michele has signed a deal with Harmony Books to write her first book, entitled "Brunette Ambition." The book is scheduled for a spring 2014 release in the U.S. and Canada in both print and digital formats.

"Brunette Ambition" is described as part memoir, part how-to, part style guide following Michele from her upbringing in the Bronx to Broadway to her star-making role on "Glee." It will offer an intimate, behind-the-scenes perspective, with the actress sharing her personal and professional journey, as well as noting on how young girls can follow her trajectory and offering beauty, fashion, fitness and career tips alongside never-before-seen photos.

"There wasn't a guidebook when I was growing up that detailed everything I would need to do, and know, to get where I am today," Michele says in a statement announcing the news. "But I believe I can write one of sorts: Not a how-to-make-it-in-show-business book, but a guide to harnessing tenacity, passion, enthusiasm, and hard work to make your dreams come true."

Michele's book deal places her in the company of "Glee" co-stars Jane Lynch, Jenna Ushkowitz and Chris Colfer, all of whom have published book since becoming stars on the FOX musical comedy.
