Leslie Carter autopsy inconclusive: Were prescription drugs involved?

leslie-carter-gi.jpgThe shocking death of 25-year-old Leslie Carter, the sister of pop stars Nick and Aaron Carter and former star of "House of Carters" on VH1, remains shadowed by mystery as autopsy results have proven to be inconclusive.

"Our family is grieving right now and it's a private matter," the family said in a statement about Leslie, who leaves behind a husband and 10-month-old daughter. "We are deeply saddened for the loss of our beloved sister, daughter, and granddaughter, Leslie Carter. We request the utmost privacy during this difficult time."

E! says that the autopsy is inconclusive pending the results of toxicology reports. "The body has been released to the family," says the coroner. "Results of the toxicology test are made public at the discretion of the family."

TMZ reports that Carter struggled with prescription drug abuse and had moved to upstate New York from Canada in order to seek support for her addictions, which included Xanax. Word is that family members left her alone for one hour on Tuesday, and when they returned she was unconscious and could not be revived.
