Lifetime renews 'Devious Maids' for Season 2
The cable net announced on Tuesday (Aug. 13) that it had issued a pickup for a 13-episode Season 2 of the Marc Cherry-created hit. "Devious Maids" premiered to solid but unspectacular ratings, but has managed to steadily improve week-to-week, becoming Lifetime's fastest-growing drama in the network's history.
On Aug. 4, the show, centered on a close-knit group of maids ( Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramírez, Roselyn Sánchez, Edy Ganem and Judy Reyes) and their ultra-wealthy Beverly Hills bosses, netted a series high 2.9 million total eyeballs, up 45 percent from the series' June 23 premiere. Not only that, "Devious Maids" has made Lifetime cable's No. 1 network in the Sunday at 10 p.m. time slot among women.
"One of the most daring series on television, 'Devious Maids' has quickly become a hit. We are very proud of the show and are delighted to continue our partnership with Marc Cherry ... I am thrilled we are bringing 'Devious Maids' back for a second season to lead our scripted slate in 2014," Rob Sharenow, executive vice president and general manager of Lifetime, said in a statement.
