Lingerie League ditches the bras and panties

The Lingerie Football League is getting an extreme makeover. After a few years of selling out stadiums and racking up ratings, the female football players are stripping off the lingerie and changing their name. 

The league has announced a major rebranding, which includes shedding its trademark lingerie and changing its name to Legends Football League.

"We have now reached a crossroad of gaining credibilty as a sport or continuing to be viewed as a gimmick," says the LFL in a statement on their website. "In order to reach the next milestone, we feel the focus has to be the sport and our amazing athletes."

The league changes include replacing the staple lingerie uniform with "performance wear," redesigning the shoulder pads for increased protection of the athletes, and a shift in tagline. Instead of "True Fantasy Football" (because, really -- ew), the LFL is going with "Women of the Gridiron." Sounds way tougher, right?

If this teaser video is any indication, the league isn't toning down the sex appeal. Looks like they're just turning the volume down on the trashy:
