Lisa Lampanelli's 80-pound weight loss: You eat small portions and bring the rest home

Several months ago, she underwent gastric sleeve surgery, which decreases a patient's stomach size to limit food intake, and has dropped 80 pounds.

"I tried every single thing imaginable - diet, exercise. I even bought a house on the health spa property and I still gained weight," the comedian tells Dr. Oz.

"For 32 years, from 18 to 50, I tried everything on the planet, and once I had a clean slate with that I said, 'You know what? Nothing's working for me. I'm going to treat this like the addiction that it is. I'm going to get this surgery and use it as a tool. That's all it is, a tool to help me get over it," says Lampanelli.

She also says the surgery has not turned her into a crazy eater.

"I order food like a normal human being. If I'm out to lunch I'm going to order three courses like everybody else. I'm not going to feel like some kind of freak. So I always order soup, dessert and a sandwich or whatever main course," says Lampanelli. "But then the idea is you have to eat such a small portion of it and bring the rest home."
