'Looking' renewed for Season 2 on HBO with expanded regular cast

looking-renewed-season-2.jpgHBO has picked up a second season of "Looking," its well-reviewed but thus far lightly watched new series focused on a trio of gay men in San Francisco.

With the renewal, first reported by THR, the show is also expanding its regular cast for Season 2. Lauren Weedman, Russell Tovey and Raul Castillo, who have been recurring guest stars this season, will be full-time cast members next season. Production is set to resume later this year.

"Looking" has not pulled in big overnight ratings, but as with all HBO series those numbers aren't the whole story. Sunday's (Feb. 23) episode pulled in a series high of 519,000 viewers for its first airing, but with replays, delayed and multi-platform viewing, the show is averaging about 2 million weekly viewers.

The renewal for "Looking" comes on the heels of HBO picking up another low-rated comedy, "Getting On." The cable channel has not yet picked up a second season of "True Detective," but that's expected to happen soon.
