'Mad Men' premiere date confirmed, 'The Killing' returns April 1

mad-men-s4-finale-500.jpgIt's official: "Mad Men" will be back on AMC on Sunday, March 25. And to make up for lost time, the Emmy-winning drama's fifth season will open with a two-hour episode.

Season 5 will debut at 9 p.m. ET March 25 with an episode written by creator Matthew Weiner and directed by Jennifer Getzinger, who has helmed five previous episodes of the show (including "The Gypsy and the Hobo" from Season 3 and last season's "The Suitcase," both of which earned her Directors Guild Award nominations).

"Mad Men" moves to its regular home at 10 p.m. Sundays the following week with an episode that marks the directorial debut of star Jon Hamm, who earlier this week spilled the beans on the premiere date.

It will be joined on April 1 by Season 2 of "The Killing," which will also have a two-hour premiere starting at 8 p.m. It moves to 9 o'clock starting April 8 -- which means we'll discover the resolution to Season 1's mystery sometime in June.

AMC also says its unscripted series "Comic Book Men," about the guys who work at Kevin Smith's New Jersey comic book store, will debut at 10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, after the return of "The Walking Dead." "Talking Dead" also resumes at midnight Feb. 12.
