'Major Crimes,' 'Perception' earn extra episode orders at TNT

"Major Crimes," the Mary McDonnell-starring spinoff of TNT's long-running hit "The Closer," received the bigger boost with TNT ordering an extra four episodes to bring its Season 2 total to 19, according to Deadline. Since Season 1 of "Major Crimes" only ran 10 episodes -- and averaged a very strong audience of nearly 7 million viewers -- consider this a sign of good faith in the series from the network.

The Season 2 order for "Perception" has been increased by just a single episode to 14 episodes. That's also a jump from the Season 1 order of 10 episodes for the Eric McCormack vehicle, which averaged over 4 million viewers weekly during its initial run last summer.

"Major Crimes" returns to TNT on June 10, while "Perception" debuts two weeks later on June 25. TNT's summer schedule officially kicks off June 6 with unscripted premieres "The Hero" and "72 Hours," while scripted sci-fi hit "Falling Skies" returns three days later.
