Marty McFly sneakers: Where we're going, we don't need roads

michael-j-fox-shoes.jpgGreat Scott! Remember the scenes in "Back to The Future Part II" when Doc (Christopher Lloyd) and Marty (Michael J. Fox) go to the year 2015 and find themselves dodging hooligans on hoverboards and chasing moving trash cans and paying bills with their thumbprints and getting laughed at by a tiny Elijah Wood?

We may not have hoverboards, and we still can't just hydrate a pizza, but Nike is taking us one step closer to the future with these "Back to the Future" inspired shoes. Doc asked Marty to dress up as his son, Martin Jr., and included in the ensemble were self-lacing shoes with a glowing "Nike" logo.

Now -- just a few years shy of 2015 -- they're a reality. Nike flew a blogger from NiceKicks.com out to Los Angeles, where he was given an iPod shuffle programmed with a message from Dr. Emmett Brown himself. "Welcome to Los Angeles. If my calculations are correct, over the next 24 hours you are about to see some serious sh**!"

Along with the iPod he received a box with Doc's movie-inspired mirrored glasses, some '80s candy, and a Pepsi (perfect?)... and an invitation to an epic unveiling. Check out the video below. This is heavy.

So, in short, we need these shoes like... yesterday. The very fabric of the space-time continuum depends on us getting those shoes.
