'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.': See the full trailer (with a special guest?) for ABC's new series
ABC released a 30-second teaser for "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." over the weekend. The full trailer is here now, and it is a basket of goodies for fans of both the Marvel movies and Joss Whedon.
The clip features Agent Phil Coulson ( Clark Gregg) shocking a fellow S.H.I.E.L.D. agent ( Brett Dalton) by revealing he's not nearly as dead as everyone thought. It features a superhero character played by "Angel" alum J. August Richards, and it's full of great Whedon dialogue. For instance, when Coulson and Dalton's Grant Ward apprehend a hacker ( Chloe Bennet of "Nashville") and tell her what comes next can go one of two ways, she quips, "Let me guess -- is one of them the easy way?" Ward deadpans, "No."
One other intriguing bit from the trailer: The female agent interrogating Ward starting about the 25-second mark sounds an awful lot like Cobie Smulders, who played S.H.I.E.L.D. operative Maria Hill in "The Avengers." We never see who's speaking to Ward before Coulson enters, but Smulders did suggest a cameo was a possibility in an interview a few months ago.
"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." also stars Ming-Na Wen, Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain de Caestecker. Whedon directed the pilot and co-wrote it with his brother Jed and Maurissa Tancharoen. The series is set to air on Tuesday nights in the fall.
Watch the trailer and let us know what you think -- will you be tuning into "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." next season?
