Matt Bomer: Halloween zombies, not '50 Shades of Grey'

As a guest on "Live with Kelly and Michael," Matt Bomer didn't talk about "50 Shades of Grey" the way many may have wanted the "White Collar" actor to do. Instead, Bomer talked about Halloween and his upcoming role in the film adaptation of "The Normal Heart."

It turns out that Halloween is a really big deal for Bomer, the father of three kids. Unfortunately for fans (and for the "Live" hosts), Bomer didn't actually know what he would dress up as this year. The kids get to make that decision -- previous costume suggestions from them have included Woody from "Toy Story" and a "zombie lunch lady." Zombies are a big deal for at least one of the kids, apparently. Their dad mentioned that while two were dressing as Ninja Turtles, the third would be a "zombie football player."

All of this was very adorable.

Less adorable but definitely fascinating was the revelation that Bomer had had to lose 32 pounds for his role in "The Normal Heart." Considering that the actor is in excellent shape, this is a big deal. At least Bomer got in one last taste of sweetness before his extreme diet. "When I bite into a cronut, Marvin Gaye starts playing," the actor gushed of the faddish dessert item.

What about the recasting of "50 Shades of Grey" after "Sons of Anarchy" actor Charlie Hunnam dropped out? Kelly and Michael didn't ask, and Matt Bomer didn't say.
