Meet 'Rake's' Necar Zadegan, one-third of the trio at the heart of the show

Meet Necar Zadegan, one of the stars of FOX's freshman drama "Rake." Her previous credits include "24" and "The Event," but now she's swapping action thrillers for courtroom cases and comedy.

"I play Scarlet, Scarlet Leon," says Zadegan, in this exclusive first-look video at Zap2it. "Scarlet and Ben ( John Oritz) are married. They've known Keegan ( Greg Kinnear) for a very long time. They all went to law school together, so she comes up against Keegan regularly in court. He is so good at what he does and she's really good too, but he finds all kinds of backdoors."

Ortiz adds that the three of them have a wacky, if symbiotic relationship, but somehow it works. "I think they might be even more compatible as a trio than as a duo," says Ortiz.

In this week's episode, titled "A Close Shave," Scarlet and Ben plan their recommitment ceremony, to which Keegan brings Brooke Alexander (guest star Alexandra Breckenridge), a slightly overeducated, sports-betting girl who seems too good to be true. Watch a sneak peek clip here.

Are you enjoying Scarlet, Ben and Keegan's fun dynamic so far on "Rake"? The new series airs Thursday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
