Emma Stone has dropped out of Guillermo del Toro's upcoming project "Crimson Peak," but a replacement is close to being found. It's being reported that "Alice in Wonderland" star Mia Wasikowska is in talks for the role.

TheWrap reports that Wasikowska would play a "young author named Edith Cushing who discovers that her charming new husband is not who he appears to be." Stone had to turn down the role due to a scheduling conflict.

Also starring in the movie are "Pacific Rim's" Charlie Hunnam as the movie's lead and Benedict Cumberbatch and Jessica Chastain as siblings in an aristocratic family. The plan is for the supernatural thriller to begin shooting in February 2014. The report says that del Toro "plans to toy with the conventions of the genre while subverting some of its long-standing rules."
