And Douglas felt that he could not have done it without his on-screen lover, Damon.

"Thank you to my Academy fellow members, thank you so much. And thank you to the great performances by all the other nominees, but obviously there's one nominee in particular that I have to really thank. This was a two-hander. Matt, you're only as good as [ laughs] you're only as good as your other hand," says Douglas.

I can't tell you -- you were magnificent and the only reason I'm standing here is because of you. You really deserve half of this, so -- you want the bottom or the top? [ laughs] Top. I figured that."

Douglas had the audience laughing quite hard at his bromance moment with Damon. But he did not forget to thank wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, from whom Douglas is currently taking a break.

"I want to thank my wife Catherine for her support, my kids Dylan and Caris and a shout-out for my oldest son Cameron and hoping that I'll be able, they'll allow me to see him soon," says Douglas, in reference to his eldest son's incarceration.
