Three-time Oscar nominee Michelle Williams is headed to Broadway to fill the role of Sally Bowles -- vacated recently by Emma Stone -- in the musical "Cabaret."
The news was first reported on the blog, Lemonwade and later confirmed by the Roundabout Theater Company. The "Oz the Great and Powerful" star takes on the role iconically played by Liza Minelli in the 1972 film version. Alan Cumming stars as the M.C.
The musical will have a 24-week run, opening April 24, 2014. Previews will begin March 21.
Stone bowed out of the role back in May, citing scheduling conflicts with a feature film role. She has two film projects on her slate in the near future -- and untiled Woody Allen movie and an untitled Cameron Crowe film.
