Microsoft's new Xbox reveal live stream - Watch the presentation now

The time has come for Microsoft to debut the successor to the Xbox 360. The event is streaming live on Xbox.com, on Xbox Live-enabled 360 consoles and airing on Spike TV. Sony already announced the details of their next system, PlayStation 4, in February. What they haven't done is show what the system looks like, outside of a vague teaser video released May 20.

Will Microsoft learn from Sony's reveal and show off the actual hardware they're presenting? With both new systems looking for release in time for the 2013 holiday season, Microsoft will likely show off some launch titles as well.

As for what's expected from the system, reports on possible specifications include a Blu-Ray Drive, a built in Kinect motion sensor and possibly a controller with a display, similar to what the Wii U offers. A more controversial possible feature of the system will require it to always be powered on at some level, connected to the internet. There may also be technology that blocks used games from being played.

Both systems will be the center of attention at 2013's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), which kicks off June 11. The Xbox 360, Microsoft's current console, first hit the market in 2005, nearly a year before the PlayStation 3.

The presentation begins at 1 p.m. ET.
