Mike Kekich and Fritz Peterson: Wife-swapping Yankees may hit the big screen in Ben Affleck film

Ben and his brother, Casey Affleck, are in the process of writing "The Trade," which will tell the story of Kekich and Peterson -- who literally traded wives back in 1972. Marilyn Peterson and Mike Kekich's affair was short-lived and while they didn't fare so well in the trade-off, Fritz Peterson is still married to Susanne Kekich to this day.

Page Six reports that the Afflecks may have an uphill battle if they want the support of either player on the project. Kekich, who currently resides in New Mexico, is actively refusing to participate in the project, as are several other Yankees from the era.

According to a source, "Kekich is panic-stricken. He has moved away and has a new identity. He is freaked out those working on the movie found out where he is. He isn't too keen on having that scandal dredged up again after all this time."

Unsurprisingly, Matt Damon will reportedly direct the film, as well as co-star alongside his "Good Will Hunting" buddy once again. As for the leading ladies in consideration, Naomi Watts, Rachel Weisz and Rebecca Hall are on the current short list.

Think the native Bostonians' die hard Red Sox loyalty has anything to do with the project?

Affleck recently told MTV, "I've come to have a little more respect for the Yankees. There are some of those guys, I have to say, that look like good guys."

"But as an institution?" he adds, "Disdain. Contempt...  Guys f---ing each others' wives -- that's those Yankees."

We still think it would make a great story!
