Miley Cyrus, Zac Efron, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner: Can young Hollywood save the Oscars?

miley_cyrus_300x400.jpgThe Academy might have lost youth appeal points when they nixed the suggested controversial comedian Sacha Baron Cohen as host for the safer comedy duo team of Steven Martin and Alec Baldwin.

But oh have they ever made up for it with their young Hollywood power lineup of presenters this year.

The Dish Rag previously reported that "Twilight" stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are Oscar-bound as presenters. Now the Academy confirms Miley Cyrus and Zac Efron will be joining them as well.

The Academy's banking on these four leaders of Hollywood's new talent crop to entice younger (a.k.a. more) viewers to tune in to this year's Oscars. Around 36 million total viewers watched last year's telecast. The ratings were 13 percent higher than 2007's all-time low, but peanuts compared to the 55 million who sank into their futons to watch "Titanic" capture Best Picture in 1998.
