Blake Shelton and wife  Miranda Lambert had quite a night at the CMA Awards 2012, taking home four awards between the two of them, including the shared Song of the Year trophy for "Over You."

It was Blake's unexpected triumph over Taylor Swift in the Entertainer of the Year category that got some tongues wagging. With no recent or scheduled tour dates, and his only official release this year being a Christmas album, how did Shelton knock Swifty off her perch? Did the Country Music Association give him the nod because of his very public country pulpit on "The Voice?" Well, maybe so. But Miranda thinks that's fair.

Billboard reports Lambert was quick to stand by her man and defend his surprising win. "It not only meant touring numbers or ticket sales or how much production you had, but the way that you represented country music within the year," says Lambert. "When you think of it that way, Blake Shelton deserved to win that trophy tonight. He's on a national television show two nights a week representing us as a genre and I'm so proud of him."

What do you think? Did Blake Shelton deserve to win the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year?
