Morrissey cancels US tour dates citing 'medical mishaps'

morrissey-getty.jpg Morrissey's ongoing health issues have caused the British singer to cancel the remainder of his current North American tour.

His spokeswoman released a statement explaining, "Despite his best efforts to try to continue touring, Morrissey has to take a hiatus and will not be able to continue on the rest of the tour. Morrissey thanks all of his fans for their well wishes and thoughts."

And noting the singer has suffered a series of medical mishaps over the past few months including a bleeding ulcer, Barrett's esophagus, and double pneumonia.

Morrissey recently canceled a show in San Francisco and had previously postponed a handful of dates when he was hospitalized in Michigan in late January. Now the final 22 dates are officially off and ticket holders will be able to obtain refunds at their point of purchase.

Health problems aside, Morrissey has had a particularly high profile 2013. He canceled an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" to protest scheduled guests from A&E's "Duck Dynasty" and convinced Los Angeles' Staples Center to go all vegetarian for his March 1 performance.
