'Muppets Most Wanted' commercial: Twitter marketing at its finest
"Muppets Most Wanted" is the kind of movie that does get Internet people talking. So why not use Twitter "reviews" from normal people to help advertise an upcoming release?
It makes sense, and that's what the upcoming Muppet film did. Only the commercial gives its reviews a special, insane tweak -- which makes the movie seem even better than before.
Since Twitter is so ridiculously full of weird accounts, bad spelling and random enthusiasm, why pick out boring comments? The "Muppets Most Wanted" use of "I'll prolly go see this" and "You're totes lame" works far better.
There's only one question brought up by such a video: Are the accounts and comments real? The answer is ... Kind of and probably. The three accounts quoted -- FuzzyBen4375, PoppaFreshness and IHeartHorses214 -- in the commercial all exist and have tweets. However, all three were started in the past week and have a distinct "marketing" air about them.
Either way, this is still funny.
"Muppets Most Wanted" won't be released until March 21, which gives Twitter lots of time for even more, terribly thoughtful reviews of this nature.
