NBA Playoffs 2013: Shaquille O'Neal brings 'comedy and expertise'

shaquille-oneal-red-carpet-nc-350.jpgZap2it: This is your second year doing the NBA studio show on TNT. How do you like doing it?

Shaquille O'Neal: It's fun. I think we give [fans] a mixture of comedy and expertise. Like me, when I'm watching I don't want to hear all that straight talk all the time. Every now and then, I want to know what's going on with Paul Pierce or what's going on with [ Kevin] Garnett. But I think that's why we're the No. 1 show, because people look forward to our antics, and me and Charles [ Barkley] going back and forth. It's not scripted; it's real. So I just think we're something different, and I think we're something futuristic. And I'm not on the Ernie [ Johnson] level as an analyst, but I'm going to be here for a while, so by the time I'm done, I will be on that Ernie level.

Zap2it: You have an interest in law enforcement. Where did that come from?

Shaquille O'Neal: I've always been a leader. It's always been one of my aspirations to be a sheriff. Now I know I could probably get in as "Shaq the Sheriff." But now the question you have to ask yourself is, would the troops really respect me as a law enforcement guy? So I decided to go to three different police academies, so if I ever do get elected sheriff, everyone across the world knows I'm a full-fledged police officer. So when and if I become an elected sheriff, they'll look at me as Shaq 70 percent, but 30 percent of the time, they'll know I know what it takes to be in law enforcement. I know the ins and outs; I did the same thing they did to obtain the badge. So that's why I did it.
