New 'Muppets' trailer contains approximately 100 percent more explanation of the movie's plot

muppets-trailler-oct-14.jpgWe have loved the parody trailers for "The Muppets" that have come our way in recent months, but what we haven't seen too much of is an actual, plot-illuminating teaser.

Problem solved: The latest trailer for the movie is a more-or-less straight-ahead affair. It seems that Kermit and Co. have fallen on hard times, and their biggest human fans, played by Jason Segel and Amy Adams, help get them on top. There are obstacles, bad guys, celebrity cameos galore and a cameo by Statler and Waldorf. So while it's not "The Pig With the Froggy Tattoo," it's still awfully fun.

Also? "The Pig With the Froggy Tattoo" didn't have Gonzo's singing chickens doing Cee Lo's "F*** You," so score one for the conventional route. (Double bonus for not using Starship's "We Built This City," unlike the first regular trailer.)

"The Muppets" opens in theaters on Nov. 23. Here's the trailer:
