Nicki Minaj is the latest "American Idol" Season 12 judge to officially announce that she will not return for another season of the singing competition. Following the leads of Randy Jackson and -- earlier on the same day -- Mariah Carey, Minaj has announced that she is out the door and heading for more music.

Minaj announced the news on her Twitter account Thursday (May 30). She didn't give a lot of details, but the singer's style was definitely present:

"Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn't trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!!!"

Fans of "Idol" shouldn't be surprised about this one, since Minaj has been a rumored exit since partway through the season. She hasn't exactly denied it either. This is, however, the first clear statement of her intent to leave.

The comprehensive abandonment of "American Idol" by the judges began with Randy Jackson before the "Season 12" finale even aired. Mariah Carey followed with an announcement that she was planning a world tour -- and not a return to "Idol" -- earlier on the same day as Minaj's announcement.

At this point, only one of the past season's judges, Keith Urban, has not said anything about leaving. On the contrary, Urban has made it clear that he would love to return

He may not get the chance. Rumors indicate that "American Idol" Season 13 will feature an all-new, three-person panel of judges composed of former "Idol" stars. There wouldn't be much room for Urban's return in that case.
