Nothing says Happy Holidays like a Pap smear. Hey, CBS really does care
Remember when a celebrity starring in a PSA was usually a condition of their probation for a D.U.I. or drug charge?
A thing of the past. Now it's cool for actors to tell us what we should be doing. Unfortunately, all the cool causes -- literacy, volunteering, heart health -- have been done to death.
Not that that's going to stop CBS. Neither is the fact that The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recently issued new recommendations stating that annual pap smears are no longer a necessary part of most women's health regime.
Check out actor Josh Pais (who is not on the cast of a CBS show), telling us how when you're stuck for a gift for the woman in your life, a visit to the gyno is the way to go. After all, "Just a schmear could save her life."
All of this is true. Nothing does say Happy Hanukkah like a Pap smear. Know what? Nothing says Merry Christmas like a melanoma screening either.
Of course, not to leave anyone out, actor Chris Beetem (also not on a CBS show) offers a Pap Smear PSA for the Christians out there.
I don't know what kind of doctors everyone else goes to, but mine doesn't accept gift certificates. Maybe with the new national health care plan ... .
