Being Oprah Winfrey and all, you'd think it would be hard to keep something as big as a long lost sister safely tucked in the closet. But the talk show host kept everyone guessing over the weekend, when she teased that the Monday, Jan. 24, broadcast would include the revelation of a big family secret.

Though word did leak a little soon, Winfrey discusses the matter, as promised, during the show. She explains how her mother, Vernita Lee (also present), gave up a girl for adoption before Oprah was born.

Her half-sister Patricia has been aware of her link to Oprah since 2007 -- something that gets her famous half-sister quite choked up.

"What is so extraordinary about Patrica, and Andre, and Aquarius," Winfrey says, speaking of her sister and her children, "is that they have known this secret since 2007."

"Since I have been a person known in the public, there have been few times that I have been anywhere and not sold out," she says. "There are few times where you can bring anyone into your life and not have that person in some way betray you or use you or take advantage of you."
