The murder case against paraplegic Olympian Oscar Pistorius is delayed until Aug. 19 following a hearing Tuesday (June 4) in his native South Africa. Pistorius is out on bail but faces a premeditated murder charge in the death of his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp.

According to a report by the New York Times, the court magistrate openly criticized media coverage of the very public murder case as a threat to the judicial system. He called the associated news reports "scandalizing" and warned of a "trial by media."

Steenkamp's family previously told reporters they have banned TV in their homes due to the media coverage of their loved one's death. Reeva's body was found behind a locked bathroom door in Pistorius' home on Valentine's Day 2013. She had suffered multiple gunshot woulds and a crushed skull.

The delay in the case was at the request of the prosecution. The hearing lasted just 20 minutes.

It was rumored just weeks after Steenkamp's death that Ryan Gosling and Charlize Theron were frontrunners to play the couple in a Pistorius biopic.
