Out-of-this-world Google doodle celebrates Roswell incident anniversary

Monday's (July 8) Google doodle celebrates Roswell -- and no, we don't mean the series starring Shiri Appleby and Katherine Heigl. Though that would be pretty cool, too.

The interactive game featured on the search engine's home page on Monday actually commemorates the 66th anniversary of the Roswell UFO incident, when an unidentified object crashed on a ranch near the small New Mexico town of the same name back in 1947. Many believe it was an alien spacecraft, while the military keeps to its cover-up story that it was just a weather balloon gone off-course. Sure it was.

In the doodle, users can take on the role of the crash-landed alien as it tries to put its spacecraft back together by finding all the various pieces scattered around the farm -- including random supplies hidden here and there. Can you put the damaged spaceship back together in order to return home? Try your hand at Google's latest game to find out.
