Pat Robertson excuses General Petraeus affair with Paula Broadwell: 'He's a man'

pat-robertson-getty-images.jpgHere we go! Conservative television evangelist Pat Robertson has weighed in on General Petraeus' alleged affair with biographer Paula Broadwell -- and he says we can't blame Petraeus, because after all, he's a man, and men do these things.

"Who knows?" he said on Monday's "700 Club" episode, as Gawker pointed out. "The man's off in a foreign land and he's lonely and here's a good looking lady throwing herself at him. I mean, he's a man."

(Oh, the evil seductress, throwing herself at the poor helpless married CIA director, who was just unable to resist her wicked ways!)

Robertson continued, "She is an extremely good looking woman. She is a marathon runner. She runs Iron Man triathlons. So she's out running with him and writing a biography. I think the term is 'propinquity.'"

If you don't have a dictionary on hand, propinquity basically means "proximity." Yes, Mr. Robertson. Proximity to people other than one's spouse is generally an important part of having an extramarital affair.
