Paul McCartney fills in for Kurt Cobain at 12-12-12 benefit concert: Courtney Love is 'not amused'

paul-mccartney-nirvana.jpgKurt Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, is more than a little upset about Sir Paul McCartney filling in as Nirvana's frontman at Wednesday's (Dec. 12) Hurricane Sandy benefit concert in New York.

The former member of The Beatles joins Dave Grohl, Pat Smear and Krist Novoselic for the 12-12-12 show. And Love tells TMZ she is "not amused" by the choice. Love thinks the only Beatle that could have filled Cobain's shoes was John Lennon.

"Look, if John were alive it would be cool," she tells the website.

Love is also upset with Nirvana's remaining members at calling the performance a Nirvana reunion because she says Kurt was the heart and soul of the band.

The band will be playing a brand new song they wrote together. It's unclear if they will cover classic Nirvana songs.

The group is reportedly performing a new song that McCartney has been secretly working on with Grohl and Novoselic. No word on whether any Nirvana classics will make it into the mix.
