Paul Thomas Anderson, Fiona Apple reunite for 'Hot Knife' music video, his first in 11 years

paul-thomas-anderson-fiona-apple-hot-knife-music-video-gi.jpg Paul Thomas Anderson has made a return to the world of music videos to reteam with his one-time girlfriend Fiona Apple -- his first music video in 11 years.

Anderson directs the video for "Hot Knife," the closing track off Apple's latest album, 2012's "The Idler Wheel..." As expected, it's an artfully shot video, utilizing black-and-white and color film, as well as multiple split-screens. In the video, Apple drums along to the song, while she harmonizes with fellow singer Maude Maggart.

"Hot Knife" marks Anderson's fifth time directing a music video for Apple. The former couple's prior collaborations include "Paper Bag," "Limp," "Fast as You Can" and her cover of "Across the Universe."

Anderson is currently at work filming the adaptation of Thomas Pynchon's "Inherent Vice."
