"NCIS" star Pauley Perrette comes out of the closet as part of GLAAD's national PSA campaign, "Coming Out for Equality."
"Being an actor is kind of like being in a closet. I spend a good part of my life pretending to be something that I'm not," Perrette says from inside a bedroom closet. "Like being an actor, in here, no one knows who you really are. I am an ally and supporter of equality for everyone. And I'm here to help make coming out of the closet a safer place to be."
Other famous faces participating in the campaign include Jason Alexander, Jackie Chan and Jaime King. The spots, directed and produced by Brett Ratner, will air on NBC and Comcast channels. GLAAD says the media partnership will net the organization $1.5 million in national airtime on Xfinity TV cable systems.
"Our straight allies are essential participants on the road to full acceptance of the LGBT community," says Wilson Cruz on behalf of GLAAD. "From athletes to faith leaders to elected officials across the political spectrum, straight Americans are speaking out for equality at a rapid rate and we hope more across the nation will be inspired to take action in support of LGBT people."
