Some new blood is joining the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise. It's been announced that Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg will helm the upcoming "Pirates of the Caribbean 5."

The directing duo has three movies under its belt: "Banditas," "Max Manus: Man of War" and "Kon-Tiki." It's worth noting that "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" star Penelope Cruz starred in "Banditas," and that "Kon-Tiki" was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Academy Award in 2013.

Previous "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise directors include Rob Marshall and Gore Verbinski. The fifth "Pirates" movie is currently being rewritten by Jeff Nathanson. The untitled Disney project is slated for a July 15, 2015 release date.
