After more than two weeks, the United States federal government shutdown is coming to an end. The Senate has announced a deal has been reached which will reopen the government and avoid a debt default, on the part of the United States.

Details of the deal are unknown, but CNN cites sources who say that the plan would fund the government until January 15, while a permanent plan it worked on. The announcement was made be Senate's majority and minority leaders, Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell.

After Speaker of the House John Boehner urged Republicans to vote in favor of the proposed deal, President Barack Obama is set to address the nation.
