President Obama reacts to Gabrielle Giffords photos: 'Looks even better in person'

gabrielle-giffords-2.jpg"Today" aired the first part of Ann Curry's interview with President Barack Obama on Tuesday morning, and in addition to talking about second terms and the economy, the president opened up about Representative Gabrielle Giffords.

Referring to the congresswoman's recovery from her near-fatal shooting in January, Obama was clearly excited to talk about his friend. "To see her now, walking and talking and laughing, she's still got some recovery to do, but what an incredible spirit she is," he says. "I think she's just going to keep on getting better."

Curry brought up the promising photos of the Giffords preparing to leave the hospital, to which the president interjected, "looks even better in person."

"I had a chance to spend time with her," he adds. "As I said, it's almost unimaginable. It's a genuine miracle."
